Area : 117,500 sf
Program : Aquatic Centre, Twin-Pad Arena, Walking Track, Fitness Centre, Older Adults Space, Multi-Use Community Rooms
Completion : June 2009

The Woolwich Memorial Centre is a consolidation of Woolwich Township’s recreational programs into one public complex. The facility is anchored by the arena component to the north and an aquatic and fitness program area to the south. Located north of an outdoor playing field and running track, the aquatic and fitness areas overlook terraces shaded under a large-scale overhanging ‘verandah’ roof. The fitness component of the facility benefits from views to both the pool hall and the outdoor field to the south; and connects to the concourse / running track that forms the circulation system of the main arena. The twin-pad arena component has a multi-purpose 1,500-seat arena that is home to the Elmira Sugar Kings Junior B Hockey Club. In addition to recreational ice-skating and competitive ice hockey, the arena is designed for use alternately as a convention and entertainment venue for community events.
